I am an EMDR Certified Therapist and approved in-training EMDR Consultant through EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). I have experience working with children, adolescence, and adults using EMDR.

All consultations are completed virtually.

+ How many consultation hours can a EMDRIA Approved Consultant in Training, count for someone seeking EMDRIA Certification?

An EMDRIA Approved Consultant in Training™ (CIT) can provide a maximum of 15 hours of consultation to an EMDR trained clinician who is working towards certification. EMDRIA Certification applicants must obtain 20 hours of consultation on their use of EMDR with clients. The remaining 5 hours of consultation must come from an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. Although a CIT can provide a letter of recommendation for the consultee seeking certification, a letter of recommendation from an EMDRIA Approved Consultant is required for EMDRIA Certification applicants.

+ Do I have to be fully and independently licensed as a mental health professional to become an EMDRIA Certified Therapist?

Yes. You must be fully licensed by your state licensing board for independent, private practice (e.g. LMFT, LPC, LICSW, Psychologist, M.D., APRN). That being said, you can start completing the certification requirements while working towards obtaining your full licensure. You just wouldn’t be able to submit your application until you are fully licensed.

+ Can I accrue consultation hours while I work toward obtaining independent licensure?
